“When Dafa disciples are together, often what you can least stand is someone directing you to do something. But if you do work in ordinary society at some company, you do whatever your boss tells you; however that ordinary person directs you, you comply. Then how come it doesn’t work like that with our own things? (Laughing) When I spell it out, it’s likely that you will recognize the problem. But when you really encounter such a scenario, and especially when there are conflicts, it’s really hard for you to take.”

Correcting Practitioners in North America

Welcome to the official website of an assistant to Master Li Hongzhi, Special Coordinator John Pratt.

It seems like I could become famous with this role, but it is for carrying out tasks. It won’t bring me any material benefits. An assistant’s role, at any level, is not for obtaining status, money, or participating in political struggles. Also, no donations are solicited or accepted in the practice of Falun Dafa, and practitioners require permission before collecting money for a project. Epoch Times and NTD are practitioner-run projects and not part of Falun Dafa, something practitioners there will confirm, though they promote and have access to Shen Yun since they are practitioner-run projects. All Falun Dafa practitioners must adhere to the same requirements. All that matters is that a person truly practices cultivation.

In the past, assistants have been out of view and there have been none who placed a spotlight put on themselves in this way. It isn’t actually comfortable for me to do this. I don’t enjoy it or look forward to it. Times are different and the situation is unusual. The truth is, assistants are never as advanced as me in cultivation practice because once they become advanced they go off on their own and that is the cause of this never having happened. It is expected that many Westerners will practice Falun Dafa in the future. For this reason, it can be unprecedented.

Average practitioners are those who practice on and off. Some Falun Dafa practitioners are very diligent, like me, and they advance quickly, while others might not read the books for a long time, and even if they do read them they sometimes don’t
follow what Master Li tells practitioners to do. I refer to them as average practitioners because it is said that way in the books and lectures. This is the same issue as “When an average person practices the Tao, he practices it on and off,” or “When an average person practices the Tao, it seems some is kept and some is lost,” which is referenced by Master Li (from Laozi) in Falun Dafa books. It doesn’t matter how long a practitioner has been around, only whether he or she practices cultivation. Someone who has been around for 20 years might have slacked off the whole time whereas someone who has only been around for a year might have been diligent and far surpassed that person. That’s how it is, but as it happens the ones who haven’t done well refuse to believe that and it, also, results from them not practicing Falun Dafa diligently.

AT THE CURRENT TIME, I AM FIERCELY OPPOSED BY THE BODY OF AVERAGE PRACTITIONERS IN NEW YORK AT EPOCH TIMES, NTD, SHEN YUN, AND PRACTITIONER-RUN ORGANIZATIONS. THAT IS TO SAY, MY AUTHORITY IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THESE PRACTITIONERS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD OFFICIALLY THAT IT IS REAL. THEIR REJECTION IS HAPPENING BECAUSE 1) THEY ARE IN DENIAL 2) WHAT I AM CARRYING OUT IS AN INTERVENTION AND THIS WEBSITE DISCUSSES ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THESE PRACTITIONERS HAVE CAUSED OR PERMITTED THAT ARE INCONTROVERTIBLY WRONG ACCORDING TO THE BOOKS AND LECTURES OF PRACTICE, NOT MY PERSONAL OPINION. I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO START THIS ROLE, RECOGNIZING THAT ASSISTING MASTER LI WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO AT THIS TIME GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES. • I AM MORE ADVANCED IN THE PRACTICE OF FALUN DAFA THAN ALL PRACTITIONERS WHO ARE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC AT THESE PLACES:
  • IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK, INCLUDING THOSE AT EPOCH TIMES, NTD, SHEN YUN, MINGHUI, SOUND OF HOPE, AND ALL ASSISTANTS AT ANY PRACTICE SITE IN NORTH AMERICA, THE UNITED KINGDOM, AND AUSTRALIA.
• IT IS UNPRECEDENTED FOR THERE TO BE A “SPECIAL” COORDINATOR, WHICH HAS PROVIDED AN EXCUSE FOR THE AVERAGE PRACTITIONERS NOT TO TALK TO ME ABOUT IMPORTANT ISSUES. THIS DOES SERVE AS A TEST FOR THEM. ASSISTANTS OR COORDINATORS (SAME THING) TYPICALLY DO NOT HOLD A PROMINENT ROLE AND SO I NAMED IT “SPECIAL COORDINATOR”
  • I COULD HAVE CALLED IT ANYTHING. I COULD HAVE CALLED IT “INTERVENTIONIST COORDINATOR” INSTEAD.
  • ADVANCED PRACTITIONERS OF MY KIND NEVER PARTICIPATE IN PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES WITH THE AVERAGE PRACTITIONERS AT PLACES LIKE EPOCH TIMES OR SHEN YUN. THIS IS MENTIONED IN THE BOOKS THAT WE HAVE REACHED THIS STATE (SPECIFICALLY ESSENTIALS FOR FURTHER ADVANCEMENT). AVERAGE PRACTITIONERS BALK WHEN TOLD THIS AND SAY IT CAN’T BE TRUE.
• NO PRACTITIONER AT THE DRAGON SPRINGS CAMPUS IS ABOVE ME AND ALL NEED TO LISTEN TO WHAT I SAY.
  • DRAGON SPRINGS IS NOT THE PLACE WHERE THE ELITE OF THE PRACTICE RESIDE WHO ARE THE MOST AUTHORITATIVE, AS THAT SITUATION OF A HEADQUARTERS AND HIERARCHY DOES NOT EXIST IN FALUN GONG. I HAVE STEPPED FORWARD, AS AN ADVANCED PRACTITIONER, NOT AS SOMEONE WHO HOLDS A TITLE. I MADE THE TITLE TO FIT THE SITUATION. THEY ARE THERE TO WORK AT FEI TIAN OR SHEN YUN AND APART FROM THAT THEY ARE STILL PRACTITIONERS WHO HAVE TO FOLLOW THE REQUIREMENTS. SINCE THEY ARE AVERAGE PRACTITIONERS, THEY DON’T TRULY ADHERE TO THE REQUIREMENTS, PRACTICING ON AND OFF, AND SO WHEN ISSUES ARE BROUGHT UP THEY OFTEN WON’T BELIEVE, GET INVOLVED, OR LISTEN. THEY WILL MAKE EXCUSES INSTEAD OF DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO.

Among practitioners, the Special Coordinator has a background in Qimen School previously and cultivates in Falun Dafa with a path incidentally carrying these characteristics as arranged by Master Li. This does not have anything to do with “mixing cultivation ways” but there are average practitioners who are claiming that I am doing this.

For Multiple Reasons, This Position Has Not Been Formally Confirmed to Epoch Times, NTD, or Performers in Shen Yun

Among average practitioners, many are causing problems, which this website discusses on the Agenda page. Here is the immediate problem. They will not answer anything about any agenda items mentioned, yet they are all real. Because these practitioners are so resistant to acknowledging their own shortcomings or anything unpleasant– the central task of cultivation practice– the problems all exist in the first place. Then if on top of that they won’t listen, the role will not play out in a conventional way with confirmation of its legitmacy and binding dictates. I cannot issue orders that force people to do anything. Practitioners expect to be told of this position by Master Li Hongzhi but they don’t need this, like many pieces of information they receive from other practitioners, and should just listen directly to Special Coordinator John Pratt, because his communications can be judged based on their conformance to the books and lectures. What else do they need? The continued presence of this title is also a demonstration that it is real. Anything opposed after that is combativeness, self-deception, and often denial by practitioners informed of this role.

Many practitioners wish not to believe what the Special Coordinator says because they have fallen short in their cultivation practice, having carved out some minor exceptions for themselves, let them grow, then taken the lack of immediate and personal correction by Master Li Hongzhi as acceptance of them and a compromise with their desires. It never works that way. That isn’t practice of Falun Dafa, which has standards that cannot be changed. They cannot publish Master Li’s lectures on Epoch Times or NTD websites. When they do this as a large group on certain topics, either at Epoch Times or Shen Yun, it means the situation is so serious that a different approach is required to correct them. As far as my position plays out, I just point out what I see is bad and the practitioners should, if they are practicing well, respond and fix it. They will eventually have to confront all of what I bring up as it is in the books and lectures and it will become known, either through Master Li discussing it or changes in the situation. So I hope they pay attention.

To the average practitioners, if this position is real and the issues it brings up are indeed problems, this will cause great distress. For this reason, asI mentioned, an alternative title would be Interventionist Coordinator. These practitioners carry a lot of incorrect views they developed, such as that dancers and performers in Shen Yun carry seniority because they work close to Master Li Hongzhi who directs the entire project. Shen Yun is the best show performing in the world and no dancers anywhere can match the ones there, but in actuality they are guided by Master Li Hongzhi closely and that is the reason their hard work can turn into success. Otherwise, something as foreign as Classical Chinese dance could never be seen the West, and no practitioners are capable of making that bridge in the show business. They certainly work hard and face challenges, but their fine status as dancers is enabled by Master Li Hongzhi and is a separate issue from whether they have cultivated well in Falun Dafa, though there is some connection. If someone cultivates well he will dance well. If he merely dances well but doesn’t practice cultivation, that’s where he is. Many performers in Shen Yun, reporters and staff at Epoch Times, and practitioners across the country have formed a complacent and inaccurate self-image and believe they are doing well in cultivation practice just because they are associated with these entities or have spent time promoting them. For example, a certain group of performers in Shen Yun believe they can produce social media on the side where they use the name of the show and introduce themselves separately as Shen Yun dancers, but this has interfered with normal promotions of the show and is a result of their attachment to fame. These particular dancers developed an ego after achieving success on stage, which is ultimately enabled by Master Li Hongzhi, and now look at themselves as the flawless elite of the practice, but no such concept exists in Falun Dafa, which is all about finding faults in oneself constantly amidst ordeals. Just because they work for the show or dance well doesn’t mean they have cultivated well or haven’t made a mistake by operating social media on the side that is unauthorized, and this is a crucial point they reject that is taught. Many practitioners have come to believe what they want about how well they are doing and whether their actions truly follow the requirements. When it is explained to them that the opposite is the case, they stonewall the Special Coordinator, so it will not revealed to them as real until a late stage.

All of these individuals just mentioned are average practitioners, which means it varies greatly among them whether they have even read the books in months (sometimes more than a year) while they still call themselves practitioners. They have stonewalled the Special Coordinator, whose job is to deliver the unpleasant news, and this is a trap. Yet it isn’t a trap, also, because who told them to be cold to others and stonewall a person because he said things they didn’t want to hear and show so little tolerance? At this point, though, denial is the main behavior. You have to be able to tolerate hearing things that are unpleasant, things that are critical of you, not only to tolerate things in general but so that you can evaluate whether they are true and you can improve in cultivation practice. This is, among other places, spelled out in the 2006 Los Angeles lecture (a lecture that is not directed at non-practitioners, who should start with the beginner book Falun Gong). If you all don’t take criticism and can’t hear unpleasant words and you fight a person as soon as he says things you need to improve on, you aren’t practicing cultivation in Falun Dafa and are classified as an average practitioner or worse. It doesn’t matter whether you are part of Shen Yun, Epoch Times, or run a practice site– you have to be willing to listen to criticism and tolerate it. If you cannot even listen to what I say on the Agenda page and respond to it, how can you say that you practice cultivation in Falun Dafa?

To my amazement, I have been unable to break through to get any communications at Dragon Springs from practitioners there for more than a few years. It shows how important it is that this is confirmed very late for them.
